10% Local Food Challenge Workshop

Hands on Sustainability Series_ 10% Local Food Challenge.png

We all know the benefits of eating locally grown/produced foods: it tastes WAY better, it’s better for the environment, better for the local economy and builds an important sense of community. We all know these benefits, but then why do we hardly follow through when it comes to actually spending our food dollars locally? The sad reality is that we aren’t consuming nearly enough local foods to have a sustainable local food system. How can we get into the habit of buying more locally grown and produced foods?

Join us for a fun, interactive and FREE session all about the local food scene in Thunder Bay and how YOU can accept the 10% Local Food Challenge. Don't forget to bring in your favorite local food recipe for the recipe exchange! Click here to register on Eventbrite

When: Wednesday September 19th 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
Where: Waverly Learning Space at Waverley Library

Workshop 7 includes:

  • An overview of the local food system: what do we raise and grow here?
  • Where to find local foods
  • How to start incorporating more local foods
  • Making an action plan to embrace the 10% local food challenge
  • Local foods recipe exchange

EcoSuperior and the Thunder Bay Public Library invite you to the seventh workshop in our transformative and practical Hands-On Sustainability Series…monthly workshops to provide how-to help and a supportive environment for people who want to start integrating smart sustainable choices into everyday living, at home, at school and at work. The series is free and open to all.
